October Monthly flies...think orange

Recommended Posts

My flies will be in the mail tomorrow. Sorry for lateness; basement flooded last week of sep, my office, fly tying corner, our main bedroom ... but anyway I have essential functions reestablished. ironic, streams all at low water and i'm bailing out my house.

Ah man Doug, I hate to hear that. I've had tornadoes flying around us and 24" snowfalls and leaky roofs but never had to live through the flooding I see in various parts of the country, including straight south of us down in TX. When I see what floods leave behind it's more than just the water to clean up but so much worse in many cases. I hope yours was not too severe and you're able to recover okay. When I've moved or bought in the past I've always looked at flood plains but so many who have never seen flooding in generations are seeing it now. I don't think they could ever get flood waters to me but strange things are going around with the weather today and will in the future.

My sympathies with the flooding. I hope you get everything dried out with no lasting damage, or replaced.

Mine went out in yesterday (Friday's) mail. Orange dubbing loop body, peacock collar that holds an Indian Hen wet fly hackle out away from the body. Hope it works for you guys. We were spared the flooding that devastated Columbia and the :Lowcountry of SC. But we are due for another shot of it early next week. From Sunday night until Monday evening, we could get as much as 3 more inches of rain. The "State Of Emergency" has just now been lifted, as of last night.

May the water in your streams teem with fish, but may there be no flood waters in your houses!

BB

I dropped mine off at the mailbox yesterday. Sorry for cutting it right down to the wire but that pneumonia I had kicked my rear!

Crackleback went and doublechecked what I have in house and unless I misplaced them I don't have them. Tracking #?

That's not good. I mailed them back on the 24th. Usually only takes two to three days. If they don't show up by the end of the week I'll send an extra set with my November flies.

Hope mine are just different enough from netabrookies (I think he also tied some orange stimulators) that they are useful for a different situation, although it is nice to have multiples of most flies especially when they really want one fly and you lose one or two in a tree. Mine are size 12 so they should work for some larger caddis and small stoneflies or as an attractor pattern.

Crackleback, went and triple checked going through things tonight and yours are there. Right where they're supposed to be but for some reason I was registering your name and your handle when I looked earlier, and I know both but old minds don't always get stuff the first...or second time. You're golden.
