Orange Weenie

Recommended Posts

Guest

The Green Weenie has been a staple fly for so long that I assumed there was no change to be made upon it. Then I thought that since orange is sucha great trigger for cold and warmwater fish, why not try an Orange Weenie? No special instructions needed except using orange instead of green chenille, and you know what; it works! I don't know why fish like orange so much, but they do.

It catches fish! I think I could have the green and orange weenies as go-to flies and catch something on any water.

I tie them in white, pink, olive, fluorescent yellow and variegated chenille along with the standard chartreuse(green). They've all caught trout and pan fish at some point. I find the smaller sizes 14 down to 20 work better than the larger ones.
