branden_fritzemeier_67 0 Report post Posted October 30, 2015 Are there any other vises in that price range? Possibly a peak or a regal?
Warren_G 0 Report post Posted October 30, 2015 I bought a used HMH Standard for about that price, excellent vise. I did end up buying the shorter stand rod to put it on a pedestal base, and a set of the midge jaws, so I have already let it go over $200. Â Adam, the rod used in a C-clamp will fit into a pedestal base like this one: http://www.cabelas.com/product/fishing/fly-fishing/fly-tying/tools-vises%7C/pc/104793480/c/104721480/sc/104340780/i/103884480/cabela-s-pedestal-base/743575.uts?destination=%2Fcatalog%2Fbrowse%2Ftools-vises%2F_%2FN-1100441%2FNs-CATEGORY_SEQ_103884480 Â The only snag may be that it will stand up fairly high if the stand rod is a long one used to mount on a clamp style. branden_fritzemeier_67 0 Report post Posted October 30, 2015 Where would i find a shorter stand rod because i hate c clam vises. I have one and its a piece if junk that keeps falling off the table.
Dave G. 0 Report post Posted October 30, 2015 Hurry if this interests you at this price, the sale ends soon. http://www.jsflyfishing.com/wolff-indiana-atlas-vise
branden_fritzemeier_67 0 Report post Posted October 30, 2015 Do you know if that vise is any good or do you know from a personal experience?
johnnyquahog 0 Report post Posted October 30, 2015 Get the Peak at the same vendor (#9 above) at $155 and get $30 worth of hooks and material. That puts the vise at $125 which is right at your budget point. However, you have to pull the trigger soon which doesn't allow much time for procrastination. The base on the Peak is pretty substantial.
