josephcsylvia 0 Report post Posted November 29, 2015 That orangeish stuff right on top of the cork is EP fiber?? I've never used it... I saw a fly tied with cigarette filter that kinda looked like it. Much finer than deer hair. no. The orange is a ice or cactus chenille, the ep fiber is the tan body up front, I love ep fiber you can tie larger patterns and the shed water like crazy so easy to cast I will upload a couple ep baitfish I just finished tying. josephcsylvia 0 Report post Posted November 29, 2015 Hey Joe , those spoon flies are pretty neat what sizes do you tie those in ...and can they be used on multiple species i.e trout and bass etc or are they primarily for saltwater fishing. Would you you use an 8wt to cast them or could you use a smaller one like 5/6 wt thank you, those are tied on a size 1 hook that I put a bend in like a scud hook, ive caught all kinds of stuff on them from sun fish to sea trout to redfish ect.. you can cut the bodies any size you want I throw them on a 9wt the only reason being I need to be able to stop a big redfish. You could easily cast these with down to a 5wt I would imagine. The have a crazy amount of action in the water
