crazy4oldcars 0 Report post Posted November 4, 2015 Kirk ... I like the spider. How do you get the legs to splay so evenly. Hey, Mike. I just saw your question. I adjust my camera angle until they look even. I tied these in 2 strands at a time on each side of the fly. Wrap the legs around the thread and pull it all of the way around the fly to where you want them to set. Take 2 hard turns of thread to lock them down, and then 1 more to make a place for the next pair of legs. Do the same procedure again for the other side. For some reason, I always tie the far side legs in first. It may be the way I saw it done the first time. If this is clear as mud, I'll try to get some photos or video tonight. Probably photos. I've never shot video, lol. (well, *useful* video) Kirk B.
mikechell 0 Report post Posted November 4, 2015 Yeah, I'd like pictures or a video ... it's a little fuzzy to me. Well, "fuzzy" might just be me, but I need a visual, thank you.

Dave G. 0 Report post Posted November 5, 2015 Man the photos are GREAT on many of these flies. Some of you must have a small fortune tied up in photography equipment! Very well done indeed!!! like so many things, it's not how expensive the gear, it's how you use it LOL ! Most of today's digital point and shoot cameras with a macro function on them are pretty darned good, it's how you use light that really matters and how you stabilize the camera.. It's nice to have an SLR with true macro lens of course but for web posting you really don't need it. The larger sensor in them is more suited to larger print enlargement than low pixel count web photos.
