Papa Baske 0 Report post Posted November 12, 2015 Thanks Mike. You might be right about the size. Have to give them a try on day when there is more baitfish in bigger sizes around
Henrik Thomsen (DK) 0 Report post Posted November 12, 2015 Here's a couple of my recent ties. The two on the top is my first go at a pattern found on youtube called "fat boy mullet". Maybe a bit to big for the seatrouts, but i had to give em a go. Hopefully one of the bottom two will give me fish on saturday. A friend of mine is holding a fishing competition/party for 15-20 friends from all over the country. I'd love to run with the honors, even thouh i suspect the fishing will not have first priority.....hahahaha 20151112_134112.jpg20151112_134027.jpg20151112_133928.jpg20151112_133832.jpg20151112_133753.jpg Nice flies, I would however lift the tail of the flies to free the small gape hooks before curing the glue. Also, the first will probably like a little fine dressing, making the tail more pointy and less square... Og ja, de vil fange havørreder, selv på trods af størrelserne! Store fluer = Store fisk! (Sorry for the Danish ;-) )
Papa Baske 0 Report post Posted November 12, 2015 Hi Henrik. I know about the gape of the hook, but i had a little trouble with the new tubing i tried using for the head/glue part. Og jeg skal helt sikkert prøve dem efter ørrederne. Men jeg venter til næste år når varmen er kommet igen og jeg kan jagte en ordentlig sildeæder i Lillebælt Sorry for the danish guys. FlaFly 0 Report post Posted November 12, 2015 Henrik.... why? For the benefit of us unlearned ones, why should the tail be less square? If it's a baitfish imitation, baitfish have square tails.

Thank you. I appreciate that, I thought about tying some in silver and white for bass. My issue is everywhere I can freshwater fish here is so thick theres no room to cast i spend more time un hooking trees then fishing? So i pretty much stick to the flats and beaches. mikechell 0 Report post Posted November 13, 2015 I am in Central Florida ... and with a boat, I've got a large section of the St. Johns River plus a dozen or so lakes within 40 minutes of the house. Hard to fish in Florida without a boat.

Hard to fish in Florida without a boat. I live in port richey a few ponds over my way most are posted. We have lake tarpon but its huge and I am currently without a boat as the canoe is great to get from one flats hole to another where I wade. I always wanted to fish that river seen some nice fish come out of there.
FlaFly 0 Report post Posted November 13, 2015 Hey Joe, I'm not far from you (Pinellas). Lake Tarpon is good but especially if you're in a canoe, I suggest going during week days, as you'll get run over by skiers on the weekends. You're right about the brush... in Florida you have to have a boat for fly fishing (or canoe or kayak) because all the banks are covered with shrubs and trees, and cattails way out into the water.
