December Flies From the Bench

By single strand wire, do you mean one strand of wire crimped? If so that's a really good idea.

Not crimped but yes its a single strand of wire you can get it in the leader areas of any tackle shop even walmart. you put it on the same way you do a mono loop,

tie one end to the front hook down the top of the shaft make a loop through the rear hook tie it up the shaft of the front hook again and the last step i take is probably ovrkill but i fold the wire back over itself when i get to the eye and tie back a few wraps to lock it down.

My first try at a large saltwater type fly. I really enjoyed tying it. I hope it's worthy of this thread! smile.png. attachicon.gif1449979959278749829945.jpg

You got my vote for worthy!! That is a good looking fly. If I was a fish, I'd eat it!

Great stonefly!

Are the legs PT? Look more like biots to me, crimped and cemented maybe

Working on some stone patterns

Nice work! The PT legs look great. Can never get mine to behave like that.

They're actually just turkey biots for the legs, but man, they were some work to get them like that haha

Thanks for the kind words Chuck, I greatly appreciate them.

Just crimped, no cement. I might add some so they actually stay that way in the water.

Add, thank you for the kind words.

Finally got my set of Durham Ranger varnished and ready :)

Funny you posted that. I just tied my first Durham Ranger. Well done on yours. I don't think mine turned out as nice as yours. Talent Sir, you have talent.

One more coat of varnish on mine and I may just post mine up for some critique by you....
