January flies from the vise

Recommended Posts

Marabou and what my wife calls Eyelash Yarn with a homemade dub head. i think I will make a few changes.

Kevin

Do you find marabou make a better body for these flies than say a schlappen? We were discussing adding bulk to my dungeon, I was thinking two schlappen but I like the marabou on this one alot.

As always, nice ties everyone.

Here's the first fly to come off my bench in 2 weeks.

First attempt at Wally Wings. Tied on a size 14.

Looks like Richmc and I will get a little fishing in tomorrow morning. I'll fish his way if he catches a fish before I do. But I am going to try some stuff I brought along, too.

Tying flies with what I brought ... maybe some pearl minnows will catch a few.

If you're interested ... I did a little SBS, too.

I guess I missed that you were traveling afar Mike ! Where is it that you will be trying these flies ?

I think this is called a lightning nymph. gold bead, gold tinsel, chartruse wire, peacock, purple dubbing, wing ribbon and pheasant tail, # 14 scud hook. Think this might be my swap nymph.
