fishinguy 0 Report post Posted February 9, 2016 What are your favorite Web sites, other than this one, for photo/text step by step tying instructions? (Please don't say youtube) I prefer photos/text to a video personally and good step by steps in this format seem to be less and less prevalent. Sometimes a recipe is just not enough for me. Streamers, nymphs, dries, saltwater doesn't matter. Post some links please! Thanks!

agn54 0 Report post Posted February 9, 2016 Here is an old thread on saltwater patterns from the SW board. The thread is old so some of the links may not be good anymore but still plenty of good stuff  http://www.flytyingforum.com/index.php?showtopic=50361&hl=%2Btalking+%2Babout&do=findComment&comment=403465
mikechell 0 Report post Posted February 9, 2016 There are a lot of picture by picture SBS's on THIS site. You can also go to Dron Lee's site ... http://dronsworld.blogspot.com/ ... for some great instructions. I've got a few on ... http://www.flyrecipes.com/ ... and there are some others on there if you click through all of them.
Bruce Norikane 0 Report post Posted February 9, 2016 Charlie Craven has nearly 200 detailed SBS at Charliesflybox: http://www.charliesflyboxinc.com/flybox/ Charlie has really thought through how to tie these patterns. If you want even more detail for some of these techniques, take a look at his instruction books like Charlie Craven's Basic Fly Tying.
Bruce Norikane 0 Report post Posted February 9, 2016 Loren Williams has excellent SBS at his website. He has pages for nymphs, dries, streamers, etc ...  Here's the dry fly page, click the Fly Tying menu to see the other pages: http://loren.teamfreestone.com/tutorials/dry-flies  Like Charlie, Loren explains a little about how and where to use the pattern. He includes tips and images for material prep details which are usually offscreen on video tutorials.

Bruce Norikane 0 Report post Posted February 9, 2016 and the original web SBS site, Harry Mason's wonderful troutflies.com. Harry pioneered the detailed fly tying SBS with high quality photos. Harry passed away several years ago, and his site is no longer on line. Â Â Fortunately, the Wayback Machine preserves his tutorials: https://web.archive.org/web/20120811004024/http://www.troutflies.com/tutorials/index.shtml
