Bruce Norikane 0 Report post Posted April 17, 2016 Well this is different. Several unique techniques for an elk hair caddis wing in this video at the Limp Cobra - no stack, no clean. https://thelimpcobra.com/2013/11/24/deer-hair-wings-and-muddler-head-the-easy-way/
Losthwy 0 Report post Posted April 17, 2016 Thanks for posting that. I will definitely try that. The caption questions the need for multiple loops maybe it needs that due to burning the thread, dunno? No stacking, puts in on the hook with the hide attached, and burns the hair with a lighter. Different to say the least.

Crackaig 0 Report post Posted April 17, 2016 It does work, I've used the burning technique quite a bit. You might want to take precautions before doing it though. Something like this should do fine. Cheers, C.
mikechell 0 Report post Posted April 17, 2016 And a lot of deodorizer for whatever room you do it in. Burning hair is one of the rankest odors I've ever smelled.

Guest Report post Posted April 18, 2016 What keeps that flame from burning through the tie-off thread?
mikechell 0 Report post Posted April 18, 2016 What keeps that flame from burning through the tie-off thread? No more air. Fire can't burn past a certain point "easily" due to drop in oxygen the closer the materials get.
