Breambuster and Ihangten flies showed up today and I am yet to see anything to seriously challenge my fly in this tournament. Very nice flies here guys, don't misunderstand, just too one layer concentrated for this stream.

I sent in a champion fly.

All your trouts are belong to us!

You have to think outside the fly box on this one. (Then again, maybe I didn't read the tourney rules well :) )

I've been reading all this talk from you guys that you are going to win this. I will let you know now that you don't have a chance. Since I have never actually fished for trout (I only have warm water around here), I will win with the unbeatable advantage of having beginner's luck.

Kind of funny Jolly Red but in the last 20+ years I haven't caught a lot more trout than you have. First getting way deep into bass fishing, then moving down here to OK and getting COPD which limits my elevation where the best trout live, my CO and other western trips have come to an end. I do have an advantage of having spent years fishing currents for all kinds of fish so I'm not lost as to where they live but can't really get those current free drifts that are more important in trouting than in most warm water rivers. I would also stick my neck out and say that if we were going to be fishing heavy spring runs for steelhead I'd be more at home than this type of fishing.

That's why I've chosen my fly based on several factors that I've READ about that should give me an edge over those really trout oriented people won't have...and within the rules also.

Vic ... I spoke with a guy the other day. He was very nice, once I convinced him to put away the bombs, put down the weapons and just take some time to talk. (I told him to "smell the roses" ... which ticked him off a little, for some reason)

He said this device will help you breathe at high elevations, if you calibrate it correctly.

Now you can go up there and compete in the tournament. (Or blow the whole stream to smithereens, preventing anyone else from winning, too)

There is a one inch penalty on your first day's total per day late in this tournament so several of you will be starting in the hole on this one. Chances for recovery are slim but I wish you well. The potential to make up inches fast in that river is great but starting with a penalty and overtaking the size of fish FishinBob and I expect to weigh in (measure in) kind of makes it tough for the rest of you guys to get in the game. Don't worry...you'll have a great time, great camaraderie and a small banquet to finish off the weekend. Maybe at the end of the tournament we can all swap our "secret flies" for next year's tournament.

Joseph, I'd give a B+ for thinking on this beyond one water level. Should finish you somewhere in the top half of the field behind Bob and I.

Whenever Fishing Bob posts, my brain automatically says, "Once upon a time................"

Not sure why. It could be because he is soooooooooo old that most things happened like a fairy tale or he is from California the home of make believe or he is so full of it his eyes are really brown. You all try. Here is what he wrote.

So ( ONCE UPON A TIME ) Nick, just go ahead and have my name engraved on the trophy as I have sent what undoubtedly are the best fish catching flies in this bunch of loose threads!!
