Another front end on Adam Trina's chassis; it'll float. Change colors/size to suit your needs.


hook -Dai Riki 135 #12

thread - UTC 140 grey brown

core - 8lb mono

tail - moose body hair

abdomen - 1mm foam tan

wing - deer hair

thorax - deer hair butts

head - dubbing


put a loop in one end of the mono

mash barb, start thread, tie in mono at point above point

clean, stack, measure (2x hook) some moose body hairs; tie in/trim butts, tilt hook

hook loop on the gallows; wind moose hair up the core (hook length) and back down

tie in foam strip

brush underbody with Super Glue, wrap foam up and down the core; tie off/trim, trim mono

clean, stack, measure (hook length) a healthy clump of deer hair (use more than you think you'll need); trim butts

spin the bobbin to tighten up the thread, 2 soft loops, slowly/firmly tighten the thread to flare the hair, release and let it spin

push the hair back (make sure it's evenly dispersed around hook)

pull hair back and wrap head, locking deer hair back

Why is there a loop in the mono?

 

I hook the loop onto my gallows tool; provide tension on the mono, makes it easier to construct the body.
