Kimo 0 Report post Posted August 21, 2016 Kimo, Do you have a video or SBS to tie your scuds? What size hook is this? Thanks Bim, Hook is a TMC 3761 #16 I sold a video for the scud and feel it would be unfair to individuals who bought it to post it publicly. (Just a bit of an explanation.) Below is a list of the materials and the steps to tie it. Not that hard to figure out.The Potts Weave is the tricky part. Latex Scud Hook: TMC3761 #18-12, 16# and 18# being the most common Thread: Uni 17/0 or Gudebrod 10/0 Antenna: Coq de Leon - Medium Eyes: 17# Meited Mono Underbody: V-Rib Large, Abdomen: Nymph Skin - Natural or 1/8" Latex from Surgical Glove Pregnant or Virus band, orange/peacock Flashabou Legs: Tan Ostrich Herl Tie in CDL or Boar Bristle Tie in melted eyes Taper V-Rib, tie in right behind eyes, taper back end, lash to top of hook. Color with tan marker. Tie in latex right behind eye of hook Bring thread to melted eyes. Overlapping wraps of latex to the melted eyes, tie off with thread Tie in flashabou Tie in ostrich herl at underside of fly at the melted eyes Twist ostrich herl and use Potts weave to wrap twisted herl back to eye of the hook Tie off ostrich herl at eye of hook Color body with tan marker Coat body and eyes with UV Resin. First saw the Pott's Weave on Mike Tucker's VHS tape featuring the Tucker Scud. Potts Weave Kimo

Adam Saarinen 0 Report post Posted August 21, 2016 I like that first one retro! But think it would look better with a black partridge hackle instead of purple dubbing, but that's just my opinion, going through a soft hackle wet faze at the moment! notenuftoys 0 Report post Posted August 21, 2016 It's been a more productive month at the vice. Last weekend I tied up some of these; marabou collar provides tons of action in the water. Then I got on a CDC kick. Haven't really spent much time learning different techniques, so here's a few different flies I tied up. They should work. One of these days I'll invest the time to improve my pictures.
