2wt reel under $100

There are a bunch of cheap Chinese reels on eBay for around 20 bucks, I don't think you're really planning on using for fighting big hard running fish so they should work just fine for you.

Do you own one? Which model? I can't be sure I won't throw my fly in front of a carp if I see one in casting distance.

wow. That's sure tempting. I kinda wanted to stick with Amazon for the rod, due to fast easy free returns and shipping if I don't like it(prime member). But I'll consider that for sure.

I have that same rod. Very happy with it for the price.

 

I use a much heavier wt reel with mine, because tge reel is so small, and because finding a 2 wt reel was a pain. Redington Zero is the best on in that price range

same rod!? Which model? Care to give a quick review? What line do you like with it?

I have the 6'6" 2 wt. I got it to bring on planes, because I can carry the 4 piece really easily. No problems so far... it's obviously not the best rod you'll ever use (it is 50 bucks...), but for the price it does a great job. I've used a 3 wt line on it to load the rod a bit more, although once I get a better 2 wt line I'm going to go back to that. No problems using a 3 wt line on it though.

 

Perfect for small streams, and I even used it in a pinch Stillwater fishing. Could still hit probably 50 feet with the sucky 2 wt line I had on at the time.

Just an update. Haven't gotten a reel yet, but picked up a cabelas cgr (fiberglass) 5'9" 3wt for under $60 the other day. Can't wait to get a line and reel for it and put it through its paces.

I have the CGR 5'9" 3 wt. and went with a china made reel and line. all china outfit ! great setup for what it is used for pan fish and small trout.

I might get a higher quality line if I find one on sale, but I'm still planning on a no name reel. Found a few on amazon that I really like the looks/price of. One from anglers roost is in the list too.

I have a 2 wt line I'll mail you for ten bucks picked it up without a package at the local shop not sure what it is but they don't sell anything cheap there.

 

There's a cheeky 2-4 wt on Sierra trading post for 70$ it was 140. I'm not associated with stp I just go through the site on a regular basis looking for deals.
