Tied here as a general attractor; change colors to suit your needs. hook - Dai Riki 320 #12 thread - Danville 6/0 black body - peacock herl underwing - Congo Hair honey mustard (no kidding) wing - woodchuck hackle - brown/grizzly start thread; tie in peacock and wrap to bend twist peacock around thread and wrap to 2/3 mark form a loop with a hank of CH; measure (to bend), tie in/trim clean, stack, measure (gap width past bend) a clump of woodchuck guard hairs; tie in/trim butts tie in hackles wrap, tie off/trim, half hitch x 2, SHHAN mash barb (duh!), trim out hackle underneath (optional) Regards, Scott Quote Share this post Link to post Share on other sites

BBBruce77 0 Report post Posted November 1, 2016 When using hard slippery hair like woodchuck taking one loop of thread around just the wing hair about mid way through lashing it down to the hook, will secure it quit nicely. Probably an indictment of my inability but I've always had better success dosing the tie-down with Sally after trimming the hair butts prior to covering with thread; even works with squirrel tail.
