TheCream 0 Report post Posted October 20, 2016 TheCream - Very Kool - I see monster Brown Trout in your future. The streamer isn't that big, really. The goal was a downsized Game Changer with max motion I could throw on a light rod for some of the larger creek bass I find near home. This fly is 3" on the nose and 3wt castable. Jokey 0 Report post Posted October 20, 2016 Cream....any rabbit hide in that whole fly or just looped hair? Looks awesome, and if you can throw it with a 3wt then thats even better. J

J No hide strip. Spun in dubbing loops with some holographic ice dub sprinkled in for a little glimmer/shimmer in the water.

OK - but a 3" fly dwarfs most of my trout flies with the exception of some zonkers and a half dozen streamers. There is a new article on catching monster browns in Cape Cod kettle ponds on the OnTheWater home page. The article isn't even FF related but one can easily connect the dots and replace top water plugs with perchy looking flies fished after dusk starting this time of the year. Your game changer made me think of that article I had just read since half my fishing has been in my head lately.

Mike West 0 Report post Posted October 21, 2016 Think I've tied enough hair bugs and poppers to last me the rest of my life. Time to build the streamer selection up. Searched the net and found some styles I liked and did my own thing with them. Messed around with Zonker strips,Grizzly Hackle,Laser Dub,Craft Fur and Polar Chenille. Laser Dub, Polar Chenille and Craft Fur are new materials to me making streamers. Think they are a little bulkier than I like my streamers, on a learning curve still.
