McFlyLures 0 Report post Posted November 11, 2016 These are basically a craft fur glass minnow tied in reverse, then the fibers are pulled backwards to create a spine along the back of the fly. This raises the materials up a bit and helps keep the body fatter, while leaving the tail thin and flowing. This is a great fly for a number of fish. Tie it on a larger hook for large saltwater fish and freshwater pike, tie it on a smaller hook for trout and panfish. This size is great for freshwater bass, and many inshore saltwater species. Hook: Gamakatsu SS15 - size 2 Thread: Danville 210 flat waxed - chartreuse Fiber: Extra select craft fur - chartreuse and white Flash: Crystal flash - red & chartreuse Eyes: 3D 4MM eyes Eye Adhesive: Fletch Tite Head Building: Solarez UV resin - "thin" formula Head Finish: Solarez UV resin - "Bone Dry" formula
FlatsRoamer 0 Report post Posted November 11, 2016 Saw it from utube, very nice! I thought it was super cool how you tied the chart. craft fur in!! That would work for so many species here in South FL
McFlyLures 0 Report post Posted November 11, 2016 Glad you liked it flats! I do find this technique easier when trying to "high back" the fly. Maybe it's just personal preference though

fshng2 0 Report post Posted November 14, 2016 Nice job similar to matuka style tying. Does the Bone Dry Formula dry without being tacky?
McFlyLures 0 Report post Posted November 14, 2016 Nice job similar to matuka style tying. Does the Bone Dry Formula dry without being tacky? Yeah I use it like some use varnish after to get rid of tackiness. None at all. Also creates a really nice glossy sheen.

McFlyLures 0 Report post Posted January 22, 2017 McFlyLures great fly. What light are you using? Couldn't help notice but it was lightning quick! You mean UV curing light? It's the one solarez sells on their site. I think it's like $55 or something... but yes it's much quicker then anything else I've ever used.

Philly 0 Report post Posted January 24, 2017 Nice pattern. Definitely a different take on high tying. I wonder how it would work with buck tail. Might flare it too much though. I'll give it a try with some ofmy artificial material. See if it's easier to do than the standard method. Need to add that background music to my IPod. Who was it?
