mikechell 0 Report post Posted March 26, 2017 " ... and after 8400 posts, so am i. done. gonna go count my money, watch the grass grow and have a grand old time ... " Â Nice batch of flies, flytire. I'm guessing you ran out of money to count, and it's still too cold for the grass to be growing?
Hayemaker 0 Report post Posted March 27, 2017 What is the name of this fly?
shoebop 0 Report post Posted March 27, 2017 It looks like a tied down caddis without the hackled legs. Maybe flytire has a different name for it though. https://www.google.com/search?q=tied+down+caddis&rlz=1C1PRFI_enUS729US729&source=lnms&tbm=isch&sa=X&ved=0ahUKEwjMnpe7wvXSAhVHYyYKHS3MCd0Q_AUICSgC&biw=1368&bih=634 Â check these out
johnnyquahog 0 Report post Posted March 27, 2017 Â What is the name of this fly? This is a devil bug. I see it also referred to as a Cooper bug. However, I knew Jack Cooper and the tail is trimmed on his bugs.
flytire 0 Report post Posted March 27, 2017 not sure you need my answer but..... Â its called a devil bug and/or a cooper bug or a tied down caddis or a tom thumb or a doodle bug. a fly of many variations. Â google each one for reference
C LeBo 0 Report post Posted March 27, 2017 Wow, I haven't been or posted here in a while but I'm so glad to see that the great fish and flies are still flowing, as well as some new names around here. Well, here's some flies, fresh from the vice; the snow is keeping me from using them unfortunately.  Simple deer-head streamer w/ stinger hook  Trio of messy Flash Buggers, nice and weighted for those big browns  Simple stone nymph  One of my go-to's for the backcountry, a modified Goddard  Awesome little emerger, I tie a ton of these  One of my favorite nymphs: goose biot tail and shellcase, three are used for the shellcase and extend over the whole body, secured by pearlescent tinsel. (Looks pretty messy here, but it's a great fly.)  Thank You and Tight Lines! Carson LeBoeuf  P.S. I'm probably going to have some formatting issues in posting this- I forgot my routine for posting- so I apologize in advance.
Flat Rock native 0 Report post Posted March 27, 2017 Keep posting Carson, nice work. February and March have been outstanding months, all 2017 for that matter. Run back over those threads, if you haven't already... There are many hookers and lookers, plus some of the crayfish looked like cookers, but that's they roll,here....
