Austin's Drake Dun SBS

Eric Austin's variation on a Mike Lawson extended body drake. Tied here as a Brown; change color/size to suit your needs. Probably a leader twister; this one's just for fun.

 

 

hook - Dai Riki 300 #10

thread - UTC 140 yellow

tail - woodduck flank

abdomen - tying thread

rib - brown hackle stem

thorax - dubbing dirty yellow

wing - partridge

hackle - brown

 

 

mash barb, start thread, wrap to point above barb

measure (hook length+), trim out center section; tie in/trim

prep 2 well-marked partridge feathers; strip fluff from stems, measure (hook length), tie in at ¾ mark (convex-to-convex), set angle with thread wraps
