mikechell 0 Report post Posted September 16, 2017 Run new line on your reel, string it on the rod, tie on leader and tippet and fly ... then realize you missed one of the guides.
Gene L 0 Report post Posted September 16, 2017 I've done that several times. Or wrapped the line around the rod. I knew of a guy who loaded his WF line backwards.
Saltydoc 0 Report post Posted September 25, 2017 -Knock over your hyper-organized bead storage container and listen to 1000's of beads dance in random chaos beneath you on the hardwood floor while you stifle a sob.....😢
vicrider 0 Report post Posted September 25, 2017 On my spinning reel spools I seldom ever take them clean. Take off half the spool and wind new over the top. Before a trip to MI I cleaned one of my spools down completely, hooked it to my drill and carefully wound it full of brand new line. Got on the water and decided to up the pound test and took off spool, put one with new line on, strung it and tied a lure on, picked up rod, snapped bail to bring line up casting distance, and spool was wound backwards. That's why I usually never took them all the way down.
Rocco 0 Report post Posted September 25, 2017 Show up at a 'technical' lime stream with a vest full og tiny driesscudsetc and a mucky rod grabbed in the dark on the way out of the house. Â Rocco
Hazathor 0 Report post Posted September 25, 2017 My last bonehead move was chatting with my buddy while rigging at the car and getting distracted while making the loop-to-loop connection of a fresh leader to my line. I must have not looped the leader back through itself, because on my first cast I sent my whole leader and freshly tied fly out of reach into a tree across the stream... I now hate loop-to-loop connections, never really loved them, but couldn't deny their ease.
onebadmofo 0 Report post Posted September 26, 2017 Don't leave a $100 fly line loosely draped around the back of a chair, the cat will eat it. (from experience)
Brodrash 0 Report post Posted September 27, 2017 My problems are the exact opposite of most all of your guys'. I don't have enough air circulation at my tying station! I have sweaty hands basically 24/7, and as soon as I start to do intricate work with my hands it's like the faucet gets turned on. If I try to pluck a piece of marabou off of its string I usually end up with four or five extras. Partridge feathers aren't even an option unless I have some forceps or something to grab them with!
