Bimini15 0 Report post Posted December 8, 2017 How many hackles do you end up using? 6-8?
Flat Rock native 0 Report post Posted December 8, 2017 2-5 on each flank, maybe 1-3 on dorsal surface on the larger baitfish, using 6,7, 8 WF to throw. Pete may be using a 10 weight to throw his, but then his baby Albies are bigger than most of our trophy size specimens.
petegray 0 Report post Posted December 8, 2017 How many hackles do you end up using? 6-8? Â You and Kenduardo have me thinkin' about a phuzzie lapstrake notion and doing another pictorial StepByStep... I tend to mull the creative process over in my head and then make it happen in the Jawz... Stand by for news... Photos at eleven... Soonerorlater... 'something like this from my wayback machine... Ken... do those J-jawz look familiar...?!
Flat Rock native 0 Report post Posted December 8, 2017 Very familiar Vice jawz, best thing to happen for my tying since barbless hooks went on market, no offense intended mikechell- just tend to stick left fingers a lot ...
mikechell 0 Report post Posted December 8, 2017 LOL No offense taken, FRn. Everybody has a fault ... preferring barbless hooks is a prevalent one on this site. Â
petegray 0 Report post Posted December 8, 2017 It's cold n' wet and my headz not in the SBS game... on hindsight, 'could have used another phlank pheather on port and starboard... the empty head effect would have been better camouflaged... it'll phish...! Lapstrake Insinuendo... Â
Bimini15 0 Report post Posted December 9, 2017 That last picture! With your permission, it’s my new iPad wallpaper.  Fly is cool too. I am starting to have some phuzzy notions myself. How about a sparse fox hair clump, top and bottom that would fill that void in between the hackle?

Sparse fox or buck tail... maybe one more darker phlank pheather... gap be gone... I'll often "contemplate" a phly design for DAZE before it actually materializes... it's the "process"... Bimini15 0 Report post Posted December 9, 2017 Thanks. I noticed something is wrong with Photobucket. When I click on your picture, it spits an error.  Not very well versed in hackle... Don’t recognize the top. Are the flanks chinese cape or similar?

Don’t recognize the top. Are the flanks chinese cape or similar? Photobucket OK at this end...  I'm pheather challenged as well... a salt water buck tail knuckle head, that's me... Always looking into the bins at shows for colors and textures... The Bear's Den is my shopping ground zero now... they have everything I need, and more! 'was part of the Kenny Abrames flat wing movement way back when... and have my share of long hackles... more recently have gravitated to Whitting COQ DE LEON in white or pardo or ginger... that's what I'm mostly using in my current tying... onedayatatime... Bimini15 0 Report post Posted December 9, 2017 Ha! Funny that the token Spaniard in the forum did not recognize Gallo de León...  Maybe the Photobucket issue is on mobile devices:  Parse error: syntax error, unexpected end of file in /mnt/den2-pri1-mnt/code/code/pb-htdocs/public/galleryd/mobile.php on line
Flat Rock native 0 Report post Posted December 9, 2017 I have the photo bucket problem on both iPad and iPhone while my desktop was working properly, so I suspect Bimini is correct
