Red Badger 0 Report post Posted March 3, 2005 I had some once and it had lots of stiff guard hairs. I used to use it as tailing material both for dries (little heavy though) and nymphs. Bob
mozes 0 Report post Posted March 3, 2005 I think they used to make old toothbrushes with wild boar hair. You can always make your own toothbrush .
Pujic 0 Report post Posted March 3, 2005 Beadheads#1, Wild boar, as well as Chinese boar is great for antennae and tailing materials on all sorts of nymphs! Nick
federico 0 Report post Posted March 3, 2005 I use wild boar tail fibers as tailing material from long time, I use also for antennae in all my caddis pattern, it's stiff and resistent after many fishes, recently I had a zebra tail it has fibers as wild boar tail but 10x longer, I love it! Joe Hard 0 Report post Posted March 4, 2005 I am not sure but is the fur anything like pig hair, if so use it for dubbing. By the way where did you get the Boar?
Beadheads#1 0 Report post Posted March 4, 2005 Friend of mine took his son to a reserve and left him take one with an inline. Cut some off of it and stuffed in a zip-lock just in case.
Guest Report post Posted March 4, 2005 I've seen a few dries tied with it as a wrapped body, similar to a quill body. Mark Delaney
