chugbug27 0 Report post Posted January 23, 2018 Caught maybe my biggest trout ever last year on one of those, gp, and I was only using it as an indicator for a small nymph I wanted to scootch down in a pocket around a big boulder. The thing swooped up, rolled over, and gave me a nice surprise. Unfortunately I was using 6x and couldn't land him. Nice tie, brings back a nice memory
GP flyfisherman 0 Report post Posted January 23, 2018 Thanks Chug, I planning on tying some more in different colors red, olive , ect. and using them as indicators probably use a small prince nymph or PT should work just fine.

wileecoyote 0 Report post Posted January 24, 2018 TheCream, Looks like a killer pattern. Outstanding photo which helps define fly's size and color. Did you flatten the body on these flies?
TheCream 0 Report post Posted January 24, 2018 TheCream, Looks like a killer pattern. Outstanding photo which helps define fly's size and color. Did you flatten the body on these flies? Â I don't flatten them. The fly is extremely simple, and based almost entirely off the "Olivia Midge" tied by the South Holston Fly Shop. I added the strand of flash in the tail, that's my only modification. Here's the recipe I followed: Â Hook: DaiRiki 125 size 20 Bead: 1/16" black brass Tail: single strand of olive Krystal Flash Rib: small size olive Ultra Wire Body: brown 8/0 thread
