Only 13 more days till we leave for a 3 day steelhead trip so trying to bounce back and forth between the rod bench and the tying desk to crank out some more marabou speys to add to the box.

A #1 worm hook. I tied in some bead chain to the "keel" to get it down a little deeper than normal.

Try it! Learn a lot about material and how they behave!

I think I will.

Eide ... what is that harpoon thing behind your fly?

It is a custom dubbing needle from Yasuhiro Ogasawara, one of the best hook makers around!

I thought for sure that was a not yet bent blind eye hook blank. Perhaps it was made from one?

He creates all hooks from scratch, so this is from the same process - you could bend it and work it to get a blind-eye hook, yes

Spring might arrive here in Ontario someday soon so the Steelhead fly boxes need topping up.

Here is one that has been on my mind for a while, but never made it to the vice until recently.

Egg-Sucking Zonker Leech (eyed) Mustad 36890 size 2/0

Couple of size 22 baetis nymphs. The one with the black wire ,a sniper baetis variation, got me to thinking a gray goose biot would look pretty good too. Anyhow....
