June Flies From the Vise

Recommended Posts

Been a while but I haven't been away from the vise.

The Real mayfly size 18 and 20s. Also trying my hand at Dave's hopper. I'll get it, hopefully.

Holy smokes, Mike !!!

That's a lot o' legs !!!

Ya know when us Southern Warm Water Rednecks talk about Pocket Water

Its holes in the Lilly Pads, Salad or Timber.

I tied this in numerous variations. The point is movement even when its just sitting there.

Out of the top ten biggest Bass Ive caught in my life(pushing 14 lbs)

at least 5-7 of them came on the light a cig, grab a beer retrieve

We all fish too fast.

Toss one of these things out..let the rings die down, pop it hard once...5 min. later its still moving.

How many have done this?

This was going to be Mr. Wiggles Jr.

Allen B200 size 14

While packing the hair I broke the hook..you know how much time I have into this!

Grrrr..

Scott, I've seen you post these carnage style flies a lot and I apologize if I just missed what I am asking in this question: ever done one in a damsel or dragonfly version? I think it would be killer on warmwater species near me. It's on my to-tie list.

I have not but that's a bug that would be pretty easy to imitate; just ordered some 1mm foam, blue included. I'll probably use something like Charlie Craven's Parachute Damsel as a base. I'd like to see what you come up with, too.

Scott

Mike two methods to salvage the Bug.

Mono: Heavy mono

Wire Method: Add secure looped end to the eye of the broken hook with tying thread and CA glue.

To fish attach leader to loop knot or loop in wire shaft.

I think you could also use UV resin to secure a tube on the bottom and run it like a tube fly.
