David Parker 0 Report post Posted July 11, 2018 "The Harlequin" - (or as close I can get, anyway) I've wanted to tie this fly ever since I first saw the pattern. Unfortunately, it is still above my skill level, especially the wing, and this one has problems, but I'm still kind of proud of it. Faults and all. I can only dream of one day tying one near as nice as this one! Way above my skill level at this time but I'm impressed by the tiers here that can tie such beautiful flies. flytire 0 Report post Posted July 14, 2018 Silver butcher Still having trouble with the head of wet flies. that head doesnt look that bad once you set the wing and trimmed of the butt ends at an angle, spin the thread counterclockwise into a ribbon and then make tight wraps to cover the butt ends (widened thread into a ribbon covers more area than a rope and results in less number of wraps for the head). STOP! now whip finish and voila!
dflanagan 0 Report post Posted July 14, 2018 Thanks, flytire. Definitely need to work on flattening the thread out. A royal coachman from today.
