What is the ribbing you use on the abdomen? Its very fine for such a small fly.

Sorry, it is not ribbing. It's the stem from a

feather I found in the trash, either CDL or Emu.

What the heck are you doing, Caloosa ???

We don't have perch in Florida! Nothing will hit that.

If you tied up a bunch of them, you can just send them to me for proper disposal.

Haha, thanks guys. Perch and rainbow trout have been some of my most productive colors on any lure down here. And of course we have neither.

Fshng2, the head is a couple different Congo blends, mixed with some flash. Reverse tied in front of a chenille body.

Nice work Jeff, the new toy is earning it's keep.

Hair trimming looks like it was turned on a lathe.

@Kimo

On the midge with v without "tail" what's the idea there? I've seen it done both ways (as you've done it) and I've also seen flash strands off the top like on a zebra or tiger midge. I've never really understood why, but I do know they work...

Thanks Guys!

chugbug2,

For me I'm always experimenting with technique
and materials. I'm always "tweeking" patterns,
much of it is just to give the fish a different "look".
There is no "right" way to do something. That's
what makes fly tying so much fun.
It's also the reason I hang out here. Like myself
many of the tyers here are self-trained they
don't know the rules. They will try anything.
There is always new materials coming out. Every

once in a while a "new" technique or two comes out.
Bam! I've learned something "new". Something to try.

Something to experiment with
