Ray Charles (Peacock herl variation)

 

Hook - Your choice

Thread - Orange

Back strap - Flat pearl tinsel

Body - Bleached and dyed muskrat gray peacock herl

 

Ostrich herl is normally used for the body (all I had was the peacock herl, hence the variation)

A few changes to Michael Jensen's version; dabbler-like.

 

hook Dai Riki 075 #8

thread - Danville 6/0 wine

tail - pheasant neck

rib - small oval tinsel gold

body - dubbing claret

hackle - hen black

cloak/wing - bronze mallard

Legs - 56 strands of rubber legs (original recipe?)

Head - Built up thread

UV Resin

 

I have never tied this fly before so I decided to giv it a try

Legs - 56 strands of rubber legs (original recipe?)

Head - Built up thread

UV Resin

 

I have never tied this fly before so I decided to giv it a try

I tied a bunch of those back in the late 80’s...I’ve never caught a fish on one but in theory and paper they should work,
