Hi just joined the forum - fish on Dartmoor for wild trout.

 

Tried catching a Grayling on the Itchen - blanked - any tips...

 

always looking for fishing buddies for angling adventures.

Good luck with those Graylings. Neat looking fish that we don't have down here.

Grayling can be caught with the same patterns you use for trout but seem to be particularly fond of flies with peacock herl and red or orange. Red Tag, Diawl Bach are some favorites. Other than that, soft hackle flies with a pheasant tail body and Palomino Midge patterns should work in red, olive, or black.
