Tail - Red hackle fibers

Ribbing - Narrow black chenille

Body - Yellow chenille

Hackle - Pheasant shoulder

Wing - Black squirrel tail

UV Resin

 

Reference - Hairwing & Tube Flies for Salmon & Steelhead - Chris Mann

 

I tied a variation. Recipe indicated a tag of oval gold tinsel but the photo of the fly had it omitted.

I also substituted guinea fowl for pheasant shoulder

Got some new material last week so I spent some time this weekend playing around. Both flies are tied on the awesome Firehole hooks. The first is Nature's Spirit barred turkey biot body and Trouthunter CDC dubbing. I got this dubbing to achieve this exact look when wet.

This second fly is from a Whiting Brahma saddle w/ chickabou, using PMD turkey biot body and Nature's Spirit golden olive peacock for the thorax. I love the yellow segmentation from the biot.
