tjm 0 Report post Posted January 27, 2019 Strip fibers from stem to use and every single feather can be used, that still doesn't make it worth more than five bucks. Flicted 0 Report post Posted January 28, 2019 Golden pheasant can be used in spey flies, some patterns call for it but if you free-style, it can be used as a substitute. Mrs. Simpson uses ring necked pheasant but again, you could make a nice variant with those. Fly Fish Ohio has a Chili Pepper (I think that's what it's called) that uses the red. Rainclouds 0 Report post Posted May 14, 2020 If you search up Irish shrimp flies, the tail is nearly always wound golden pheasant breast feather. It gives a very lifelike pulsating movement in the water. One of my examples below. I have caught more salmon on this style of fly than all others put together.
