July Flies From the Bench

Chugbug27 -- very impressive. Every time I have tried to weave a body I end up wanting to throw out all vises and materials.

Flytire,

I fished that pattern Sunday (21July) as a dropper on the Williams Fork. It produced really well. I think you'll like it

Holy moly, Cream. That looks like a complicated pattern. I hope the fish that eats that lays golden eggs ... oh, wait ... that's a goose.

It's a nice fun tailwater below the Williams Fork dam. About a 20 minute hike to get in and out. The only downside is it's ground zero for mosquitos. Hope you get a chance to fish it.

Do you take the upper trail or the lower one?

Thanks to Caloosa for posting a terrific looking fly and sending me a SBS. I had materials on hand and was able to tie two: one a 4/0 and the other a 6/0. I am looking forward to trying them.

Then I started to over think it and did a 5/0 streamer hook

I will try one tonight on the same style of hook I first used.

Flytire,

The black grizzly & peacock grizzly...Were some of my favorite trout flies for years and years.

Sometimes I would tie them with an orange tail

I still prefer them over a Woolley Bugger..

Nice examples.

Flytire, fine examples of an old standby that still produces a lot of trout. I personally think it will out fish most patterns for brook trout in this area.
