TheCream 0 Report post Posted July 26, 2019 Holy moly, Cream. That looks like a complicated pattern. I hope the fish that eats that lays golden eggs ... oh, wait ... that's a goose. It's actually not as complicated as it might look. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sTdW91HZlHk

TheCream 0 Report post Posted July 26, 2019 Norm, kudos on the worms. Very nice. Love the royals Cream, what are they? Hi-Vis Coachmen. It's a pattern I saw on an Orvis blog years ago and has been one of my favorite small stream trout dries.

Sandan 0 Report post Posted July 26, 2019 Flytire, I fished that pattern Sunday (21July) as a dropper on the Williams Fork. It produced really well. I think you'll like it i never fished the williams fork when i lived in colorado but maybe someday It's a nice fun tailwater below the Williams Fork dam. About a 20 minute hike to get in and out. The only downside is it's ground zero for mosquitos. Hope you get a chance to fish it. Do you take the upper trail or the lower one? lower one, which has changed since the last time I was there. You can't go right down the hill an through the ranger's yard anymore.

dadofmolly 0 Report post Posted July 27, 2019 Thanks Sandan. The last time I was there it was down the hill and through the Rangers place as well. For me, it was more than a 20 min walk as I had to carry an oxygen back, plus spare bottle, heavier coming back up the hill than down. I've never tried the upper trail so don't know what that is like. Sorry guys; didn't mean to start an offshoot of the original post.
mikechell 0 Report post Posted July 27, 2019 July is almost over, and we're only up to 131 posts on this thread. We've had twice that number and more, before, so your "side-bar" isn't a problem, Dadofmolly.

It's a pattern I saw on an Orvis blog years ago and has been one of my favorite small stream trout dries. Thanks, I love those. A coachman is my favorite dry fly. I have had amazing luck with those. There is something about them. I also love that they don't match the hatch. I have caught more species on a Wooly Worm than any other fly. Bream, Bass, Chinook, Trout, Crappie, etc.
