stel 0 Report post Posted November 25, 2003 Hey, I got a email today telling me to sign up on this forum from someone(don't know who). I have checked it out previously but didn't sign up. Now I see all my buddies that I don't talk to all that much are here so I thought I would sign up and say "hi." Can't wait to read about your adventures again. For anyones that cares, lol my name is Dan. I am currently going to college In T.C. but live in troy. I don't know much about fly fishing so I hope to learn some stuff here. My biggest fish on a flyrod was a 15 inch crappie on a fly that shoe gave me. Thanks buddy. My favorite fish to fish for aur salmon.Instead of rifle hunting this year, I took up an invitation with Northern_outdoorsman. I experiance my first autumn steelhead. It was awsome. Well, that's it. Looks like I am in the right place for learning about fly fishing. Can't wait to start reading!!! P.S. I tried posting some pics but it said no img tags are allowed. What's that all about? Guest Report post Posted November 25, 2003 Welcome Stelmon!!!! Yea as you can see we have quite a few MI guys around here so you should feel right at home. Ya know a few years ago I thought fly fishing was stupid and could never see why fisherman enjoyed making life more difficult on themselves trying to sling a little bug the size of a dime. Then I got a flyrod for Christmas and I have been obsessed ever since and not even picked up my spinning gear since. So be careful once the long rod gets ahold of you, it wont let go. BTW thanks for the info on the picture thing, but no one has experience any issues with pics for a very long time because we did have a few problems when the board went up but its been working fine since I'll look into it! Guest Report post Posted November 25, 2003 You're right Brother Hubbard. Even the "blueberry bushes" are talking. Hi Dan. Take a look around. Although the site is still in it's infancy, there are many fabulous patterns and some great threads offering advice leaning toward materials and tying styles. Among the membership are quite a few 'ace" tyers that are willing to share their expertise. Break out the vise and pull up a chair. Leave your bags at the door, Big Daddy will bring them up to your room. (After confiscating all your make-up)

Steeldrifter 0 Report post Posted November 26, 2003 Dan the first couple days were pretty slow but since it was through the week there wasnt alot of competition for river space so i could still find a decent spot or two with some fish. It seemed like it started to pick up a little later in the week and i did have 1 or 2 days towards the end of the trip when i found a big pod of them, but nothing really spectaculiar. Yeah i did some cleaning from the damn down to rea rd. bridge by myself although i'm sure that it was just as bad a week later. Oh well, was worth the effort to get a little of the trash of the river. stel 0 Report post Posted November 27, 2003 Yea, it's sad what that river has gone to. I remember fishing with my dad in this one spot and didn't see much garbage. This year, it was all over. I did however make some money on the beer cans return. Now I know why I have been concentrating on the west rivers. Don't think I will head to that river for awhile again. Hey Pat, So far my plans are open. Except for hitting the books. I never have shot a muzzleloader but would be interested in learning. To answer you question on M-S, I am pretty sure the boardman is not a good choice. They only passed 4 fish the whole year at the wier. My buddy who fishes the river everyday didn't see many steelies jump the ladder when they opened the wier and I know below the wier, there is only about 3/4 to a mile to float. I haven't done it, but surf fishing might be a possibility or the betsie, platte, ect. This week I am going to ty up a whole bunch of spawn bags for next week. I will let you know how I do. Talk to you guys later
