woodchuck special

Woodchuck-Special-800.jpg

Hook - Mustad 9671 or 9672
Thread - Yellow
Tail - Orange hen hackle fibers
Body - Silver tinsel
Rib - Copper wire
Wing - Woodchuck fur (use both guard hair and under fur)
Collar - Orange hen hackle

For a weighted streamer, wrap .015 lead wire over the front half of the shank, leaving about two hook-eye widths for the head.

Other variations: Orange is a great attractor color, but red or yellow are also good choices for tail and collar color. Further variations can be made with dyed woodchuck fur, such as red, yellow or olive, or by using colored wire for the rib.

Nice colors. Is that one bunch of hair for tail & wingcase? Floating nymph?

Not this time but it could be tied that way

Flytire, those classic salmon flies are works of art! Just curious, do you fish those, display them, sell them, or what?
