I hang out on a couple of other forums. FAOL, Stripersonline, River Smallies, PAflyfish, North American Fly Fishing, occasionally The Global Fly Fisher.

FAOL is OK. I've never had any problems on it.

Stripersonline. Has a Fly Fishing and a Fly Tying Forum. Lots of good info on saltwater fly fishing.

River Smallies has a fly fishing forum, but it's a good source of general info on fishing for smallmouth in rivers

PAflyfish is local for folks in PA. Does cover local salt water and warm water fishing

North American Fly Fishing. This is a good board. A good source of information. I know there's at least a couple of folks on this board that hang out there. My second favorite board.

The Global Fly Fisher is a good source of information, lot of articles and how to do information. The forums aren't very active. More oriented toward European fly fishing.

I'm usually on them either under "Philly" or "JerryC"

Thanks guys -- think I have plenty to look at. I appreciate all of the suggestions. Healing a busted hip so now have time to explore around. Wife says "NO Ice Fishing". OH well

But, that place can be just a real fight fest over there. While we have an issue or two here and there on this site, it's hard to beat for the atmosphere.

Nothing ruins a forum quicker than nonstop senseless fighting. The cast majority of it is because a few internet tough guys get things going, get a following of anonymous posters, then proceed to wreck every thread, just to puff out their online chests.

99% of it would never happen in real life.

I'm glad to see that it doesn't (or very rarely) happen here.

They fly fishing in Fallujah??

On my last deployment to Afghanistan, shortly before retiring, my job there involved a lot of traveling around the country.

As I was walking around one FOB, searching for the chow hall, a fly line came shooting out from between two rows of tents. It disappeared, then came snaking back out again.

I walked over the see what was going on. Turned out that one soldier had a rod kit sent over, and had just completed the build. He and a buddy were out testing it.

No, they weren't going to have a chance to actually go fishing with it there, but it was really quite a nice job, and made my day to see somebody casting a line.

dadofmolly, when I had my knees replaced I asked about ice fishing and the doctor said no way. He said the same thing when I had my hip replaced a couple of years ago. So ice fishing is a no go this winter or any following winter.
