Guest Report post Posted January 24, 2020 Tried to do a detached weight and bouyant Cdad fly for a Ned deal. The eyes are so big cuz they are made of styrofoam balls and strip of foam for the dadss back. Just tied some mono on the split ring and clamped a split shot and UVd it. Need a better detached weight but wanted to see how it worked. It floats up. Like DB might not be worth the trouble. Video no worky Where got the idea
niveker 0 Report post Posted January 24, 2020 Hanging that weight off the eye of the hook is a pretty neat idea, especially with a floating crawdad. And your crawdad looks great, pretty cool idea using that material. Do you fling that thing with a fly rod? .
Guest Report post Posted January 24, 2020 The fly not the lure
Poopdeck 0 Report post Posted January 25, 2020 A Ned rig is nothing more then a flattened jig head just like many other standup jig heads. What your emulating is a Jika rig or JikaFly.
Guest Report post Posted January 25, 2020 I stand corrected. JikaFly JikaRig or ToykyoRig https://www.google.com/search?q=jika%20rig
mikechell 0 Report post Posted January 25, 2020 I've never seen the bell sinker set up before. I don't see any advantage over a regular worm weight/bullet weight pegged on the line. I've done this before with bassin' gear. Peg the weight an 1/8th of an inch ahead of the hook and it allows the lure to free float like the above set up. The benefit is that it is less likely to snag on bottom structure.
Guest Report post Posted January 25, 2020 The key Mike the guys were saying is the thing plows the bottom and claws float up at rest when they nail it. What made the original plastic deal so amazing was they were catching sheepshead with it and its difficult lots of times to catch them even on LIVEBAIT! The next JikaFly. With the big styrofoam eyes hollow deer hair legs and the 1/8 foam body this dude floats! The 1/8 weight way to big but gotta find better than split shot. Gotta tie on with an open loop knot between the weight and the eye in top of the split ring to run right. This is on 3/0 hook. Next challenge....Hohum.... Guess we can assume the salties are taking the Cdad for a crab???? Maybe a tan or white one for schwimp? Maybe one for muddy water....
