Found a section of nice, white, short-tipped hair on a piece of pronghorn hide that’s not as coarse as the deer belly hair I have. Won’t be near any eastern green drake spinner falls so I’ll try them as attractors.

hook – Dai Riki 300 #10

thread - Danville flat wax white

underbody - moose body hair

body - pronghorn white

wing - Congo Hair white

hackle - grizzly

Regards,

Scott

Sorta/kinda like Clarence Robert's Yellow Drake. A number of flies attributed to the Michigan tying community (fertile ground, yes?) utilize this style of body. Original called for pheasant tail fibers for the tail and white deer hair for the wing; I subbed moose for the tail for a bit more durability, and pronghorn for the post to retain my sanity (the few attempts I made with the coarse deer belly hair were quickly razor bladed off the hook).

hook Dai Riki 300 #10

thread - UTC 140 yellow

tail - moose body

body - deer hair

wing - pronghorn white

hackle - brown

Regards,

Scott

I dig that extended body trick with the tubing. I might need to borrow that thought for some sulphur patterns to use on TN tailwaters.
