redietz 0 Report post Posted March 25, 2020 I wouldn't have trusted any of my 45's to a needle in a moving car. Not to mention the distraction of changing records every two and a half minutes while driving.
Steeldrifter 0 Report post Posted March 25, 2020 Seen them but never had one in any of mine. Had 8 tracks though.
Lesg 0 Report post Posted March 25, 2020 An uncle had one. I was about 9 or 10 and thought it was the coolest thing ever.

A friend still has a working 8 track, not in his car but the home stereo version. He's an electronics guy and likes to fix stuff.
Steeldrifter 0 Report post Posted March 25, 2020 wow I'm surprised any of the 8 tracks still play. You'd think after 5 decades of summer heat the tape itself would stop working. I actually just threw out all my 8 tracks a few months ago when I redid the storage area upstairs into the theater room. Came across about 50 of my old 8 tracks. niveker 0 Report post Posted March 25, 2020 I had 8 tracks, but never knew these things existed. That's some old school cool.

Mark Knapp 0 Report post Posted March 25, 2020 Wait, what is that thing?
niveker 0 Report post Posted March 25, 2020 LOL, no I don't believe I've even seen one of those either. We were pretty poor going up, but my Dad was a devoted do-it-yourselfer, so our car A/C looked more like this:
mikechell 0 Report post Posted March 25, 2020 58 minutes ago, Steeldrifter said: They existed about the same time frame these here existed THAT ... is a the earliest version of A/C. Fill it with ice before heading out, and the air is directed in on the passenger. My Dad had one, but just as a curio sitting on a shelf.

A lot of them were a fan and I think if I remember correct some you could fill with ice, needless to say they basically just blew warm air lol
