The economy has crashed,  we are just not feeling it completely, yet.  The real question is how long we can shut it down before all of the cushion is gone.  Ironically,  we are becoming socialist for a while under Trump.  The insurance and banking sectors are going to be gutted. Again.  

We all have a prediction.   That is mine.

The ER animal business is busy, so far.  Really busy.

This isn’t 100# the case.  In the flu of 1918, the first season of sickness did kill a lot of people (mostly the really old and Really young) but the 2nd round was most deadly and killed a bunch of healthy middle aged people.  What happened is the immune systems of these people went haywire because of not being able to handle getting bombarded with the virus twice in so little time.  Basically their immune systems killed them off.  I mean that’s the short of it, there is a lot to the whole thing but that’s the simple form there.  So yeah it will take about 80% of the community to be exposed in order to get what they call herd immunity which means that in the US, we will need almost 265 million people to get it, since we have 331 million people in the US.  That’s what needs to happen before we see this virus loose it’s strength.  
 

(sorry my wife is a nurse and we have been researching this extensively). Haha!

We gotta pray for a vaccine to be developed quickly. You are right on about the Spanish Virus of 1918. My grandma and my aunt each lived to be over 100 years old. I interviewed them about the 1918 virus and that was their recollection. The one big think in out favor is our advanced medical technology. In 1918,  they didn't even have electron microscopes to view the bug. Please stay safe and stay home.

Thanks, yeah for sure.  It takes at least 2 years to develop a vaccine.  Just FYI, even with a rush.  It’s about testing.  Not much they can do to excell it.  The vaccine can do worse than the virus itself if not properly tested.  More accurate estimates on a world wide (or even United state’s wide) vaccine to be available for everyone would be 3-4 years.  But yes I’m praying hard!  Haha

Yep I am personally more concerned about a rushed vaccine produced by companies with very questionable morals and no consequences with billions of dollars on the line.

Yes.  I can see it 5 years from now.  "If you've taken the COVID-19 vaccine 000156.55 and suffered these side effects, call this number now!!!! You could be entitled to compensation!"

Yep, but an even bigger part of the problem is that at least here in the US vaccine manufacturers are actually protected against lawsuits, so they literally stand to do nothing taxpayers will pay for their lack of ethics.

This can be very difficult right now. Our local fly shop originally started doing curbside pickup, then had to stop even that once our stay at home order was put in place. (Who knew fishing would be a non-essential business?) I sent a Facebook message to the owner and asked if he would be willing to fill and ship orders via text or Facebook Messenger and he agreed! Granted, my $70 order won't save his business on its own, but soon after that conversation he put a message on Facebook stating he was filling and shipping orders from his store. Maybe others will jump on the bandwagon and give him a little business.

Mark when I was a kid a knife grinder would come down the street and we would take out whatever we needed sharpened. That was seventy years ago. But here in Redding we have a visiting knife sharpener who doesn’t push a handcart but uses a small van to make a living. Mohammad and the mountain? Besides CARES will compensate you for lost business for four months.

You should watch the documentary on YouTube about the Spanish Fly that killed at least 100 million and as many a 200 million worldwide. The chief culprit clearly was not a battered immune system but the lack of social distancing. Flu still kills many, but we have vaccines now for that. 
If everyone observe to recommendations we could keep Covid at bay until either a cure or a vaccine is discovered.

1)  You can't compare any earlier pandemic to this one.  Travel, medical research, treatment, mass media ... all of these have gone through such a radical change that today's situation is completely different.  Back in 1918, there were still people who believed diseases were the "wrath of god" come down to punish the wicked.  <well, since Phil Robertson claimed AIDS was just that ... we haven't evolved very far>

2)  The immune system is how most viral and bacterial infections kill their host.  It is not in the "germ's" best interest to kill its host.  In fact, we have many beneficial microbes living in our bodies.  But, when a new microbe, viral or bacterial, tries to set up business, our immune systems try to stop it.  That reaction drowns us ... or inflames vital organs ... etc.

Most people who die from this virus develop a "cytokine storm" which is the immune system going crazy.  It causes the body to lose fluid into the lung and drown the victim.  For those who don't do that, it is a terrible flu like disease.  A viral pneumonia.

Well I'm still trying to give small business money but they still aren't open. My boat has been in lockdown for 5 weeks now. I wonder if he's going to charge me storage. Everyday I run the circuit to Acme, Walmart, Walgreens, CVS and Riteaid looking for toilet paper and hand sanitizer. I score about every two weeks but it takes persistence. I'm about to drop Acme from my stores forever because they have been instituting ridiculous rules that are actually creating lines and interactions with others. Not that I give a crap about interactions and lines but it's ironic that the new rules are suppose to prevent that. I've never waited in a line at this store until they started rules that are suppose to limit interactions. Great job Acme! I think I'll hit up home depot for some life sustaining essential wood glue since the local hardware store 3 minutes from my home has been closed. No doubt I'll be waiting in some kind of line there. Maybe later I'll go out and pick up a pizza where I'll be waiting with a throng of people also waiting for takeout. Anybody care to explain how I can be in a room with people waiting for pizza but I can't be in a room with people eating pizza. 

Want to prevent lines and social interactions then you open small business to disperse the crowds over a larger area. Forcing everybody to a handful of stores, allowing only a certain number of people in the store at one time and putting lane direction arrows in the isle does nothing but create lines to get in and lines at the registers. All pointless rules that do nothing to slow the virus. The stupidity of 3/4's of what is taking place numbs the mind. The insanity deepens. 

Well 5 weeks down and it's official, I'm stir crazy and our politicians  are as well. Problem is they are still getting paid. Come the end of the month they better not extend this craziness. Any dope can just say shutdown and stay in your house but it's time for true leaders to emerge and we begin living and working with COVID19 which should have been done out of the gate.  It's not going to end so let's stop the insanity. It's unbelievable that this has come to what it is and people believe shutting down the country is the answer.
