SBPatt 0 Report post Posted May 21, 2020 Olsson’s Ekorrflugan Found this on the Bakslengen blog. With a squirrel wing and body, save your good hackle for something that’ll float for more than one cast; should work as a drowned bug though. hook - WFC Model 4 #10 thread - Uni 8/0 rusty dun rib - x-small wire gold body - dubbing squirrel (grey used here) hackle - grizzly wing/head- squirrel tail Regards, Scott
Guest Report post Posted May 21, 2020 Feathers5 Usually in the salt no problem with 9-10wt. 5-6wt trouting and no trouble. Not heavey enough to cast very far with spin rig, maybe 4# line but never get that lite....kinda big though 1/0-2/0. In still water make sweeps and drops. I was surprised how well they worked. These CutiePies have lead heads so castable with spin rig. The flies are lighter than 1/16 oz. and have cast the lil one on whippy stick. Simple to do just rob the hardware off small spinner bait and give it a try. Carefull don’t make the fly too bushy will hinder the blade to turn. I worried about the fly spinning but didn’t. The fly up front has to be a keel though. Thought about tying a mono loop on the back of other patterns and attach/remove blades with the split ring. 🎣
