Thanks FRN, wish I could post more often.  The feather is a skin from my dog's first (and only) hen pheasant .

For these, the body is a light tan Aunt Lydia's Sparkle Yarn that I hit with a yellow marker, though I think a pale green could work also. I twist it before wrapping to suggest segmentation, then brown hackle, cut short on the top and bottom to keep it low in the water and allow the wing to lay flat.  Kelly Galloup suggests tying in a whole sprig of golden pheasant tippet as an underwing. I liked that idea, but do not keep alot of GP tippet on hand, so I tried orange kip tail instead,  but did not like the way it prevented the over wing from laying flat.   The over wing is varnished, as its easier for me to tie and lay properly that way.

Thanks again!

You make it look too easy, but for many of us... it just isn’t.... thanks for putting up goal posts!

No way! Juan will drink your last beer, bum your last cig, kick your dog and tell you your sisters ugly.
But he will put you into fish!
I remember when he took a leap of Faith and became a guide full-time.
Truly a gentleman.

I don't have a sister, so 3 out of 4 isn't bad.

Liked the fly but thought some legs would liven it up a bit; buggy as sh.t and simple to tie.  Here’s the video if you’re interested.

hook - WFC Model 3 #12
thread - Danville 6/0 olive
body - hare’s ear dyed olive (loop dubbed)
wing - Congo Hair shiner gray
collar - pheasant rump dyed olive
thorax - Zelon dubbing hydropsyche

Regards,
Scott

a halibut candy.

Mark, yes, i know. There is bucktail, but you can't have a candy without bucktail.

and yes it could use better lighting.

One from a couple weeks ago. The body hackle is BEP, followed by natural pheasant rump, and widgeon flank. I discovered I was out of bronze mallard for the wing, so I subbed with gadwall flank. I think it'll swing nicely either way.
