Floating Ain’ts

Recommended Posts

Took some of the tiny styrofoam balls from fake flower dept.  and covered/anchored to hooks with Solarez to make a high floater ant.  🐜Couple kinda big put on rubber legs.

While at it used the lil balls to make a few floating eyes.  Already had some made with glass beads 30# mono, and painted black.  Solarez both kinds.

Teacher Teacher!!!!! Ain’t!!! Ain’t!!!!

No No Little Johnny aint is not a real word use isn’t.

OK Teacher then you got an isn’t 🐜crawling on your desk! 😝🤪

A fish with strong jaws is going to think ... "mmmm, crunchy!"  But one good fish is better than none, and I think those will entice a lot of good fish.  I like them.  Please post/report on how durable they are.

Haven’t got to trout fish yet so haven’t tried them.    Couple of the balls on the ants did give a little mashing as hard as I can with fingers.  Musta not got enough Solarez on them.  Tried the eyes with a hammer had to hit pretty hard to crack.   Found the tiny styrofoam balls in fake flowers so gave it a try.   This styrofoam is soft and yellow not hard white like fishing corks or premade popper bodies   You gotta build up the shell to make them strong.   The smaller the ball the stronger they are.   Put some lil wings on a couple.  These big ones might break with a hammer but you’re not gonna crush them with your bare hands.   Try it don’t take my word for it...   I wouldn’t keep making them if they were junk    Have bounced the big ones off the OB bass fishing and they survived.   Cork/foam don’t make that trip very often either.  Seatrout/Redfish haven’t mauled the ones I’ve been trailing behind jigs.   Just Solarez to the hooks couple of heavey coats; no painting/no gluing pretty easy is why I do them.  The deal is get them strong enough with the least amount of Solarez.   You put enough on there you can make them rock hard but don’t need but couple of  heavey coats.   It’s a gamble to add coats with SallyHansens if there’s a leak it will cause the foam to melt.   Done made that mistake.

Maybe I need to try something.... Take a miniature marshmallows and coat with Solarez 2 times and see how hard you gotta hit it with a hammer to break it....

Kinda hard to find styrofoam balls to fit 18,20s   Then thread em on to not kill the hook bite....keep Solarez outa the hook eyes, etc..... ain’t this stuff fun!

Went ahead and salvaged hooks, etc  from the fabric fusion debacle.
