Nice job. My tricos in this area range from 20-26. I really enjoy this hatch because it can be a challenge.

I got the pattern from Leeson and Schollmeyer's The Benchside Introduction To Fly Tying (not to be confused with The Fly Tier's Benchside Reference to Techniques and Dressing Styles by the same authors). They say it is tied in sizes 16-20. It has been my experience that size 20 is the upper limit for this fly. I was going to tie it in 22 also but couldn't find hackle that small - which, of course, means I will have to convince the Mrs. that I need to buy some.

Mcfly, the sunfish patters are very nice, they are really good the way they are. Were you tempted to glue on some eyes and put some blue gills on? Maybe even use a jungle cock for the eye and the blue gill.

I thought about it but decided to keep it as is...  I wanted it to move Better through the water and think the eyes could have impeded the action a bit.
