James 0 Report post Posted June 8, 2020 Hi everyone I have been on here for a short amount of time and have been reading some of th post on the forum and it got me to thinking how much time do you spend on the water chasing your favorite fish. For me I am lucky and have the river 10 minutes out the front door and with that some morning I will get out for one or two hours and then I have time during the week I will go for the whole day so per week about 10 to 15 hours and some weeks no time to get out I have this really bad habit of always showing up to work I have tried the 12 step program and I just keep go into work on day I will break the habit and fish more. How about you folks do you get out and fish as much as possible.
mikechell 0 Report post Posted June 9, 2020 Where I am at, there's very little available to foot traffic. You need a boat to get out and fish. Because of that, I am often limited to weekends only. I do try to get on the water both days of the weekend, for a few hours each morning. So, weekend averages have me on the water between 52 and 70 days a year. Mix into that the days I DO get to walk or wade and the days off that I always spend fishing, I figure I've average 100 days a year fishing for most of my life. James 0 Report post Posted June 9, 2020 Wow that is awesome what fish do you chase after. Here in the Rockys mostly throughout the year but summer I have blue gill. Small and large mouth bass, carpet, pile, tiger musky so the window for these is short so I try to get out every chance I can.
Poopdeck 0 Report post Posted June 9, 2020 Can't give you hours but I get out at least weekly and sometimes more. I go by boat when time allows and I go by foot when time is limited. Fortunatly for me I love my job as much as fishing so I feel no displeasure in going to work.

James 0 Report post Posted June 9, 2020 Flytire I understand what you are going through I have had back and knee problems my entire life. Two years ago I was in so much pain that I can explain the level but stubborn as I am I still had to get out on the water and pay dearly for it later and then I went to the Dr and she got me involved with physical therapy and the therapist started me on a treatment schedule of strength training and dry needling on my the girl saved my life because of this now three days a week I work out even now at home with the virus. We have to get fixed up and out on the water it good for the heart and soul

niveker 0 Report post Posted June 9, 2020 This time of year (Spring, Summer, Fall) is like heaven to me. I'm a one minute walk from the lake shore, so I hit that up at 2-3 nights/week after dinner for an hour or so, catching pan fish on the fly. One day during the week-ends at the river for 2-3 hours, usually in the early AM (longer if I think I can get away with it). Again, being lucky as I'm a 5 minute drive from a great tail water. And usually my my brother will come out for a full day of fishing once every 4-5 weeks, 10+ hour days when he comes - he's un-stoppable, and he just had both his knees replaced, LOL. But a typical week, anywhere from 3-6 hours, double that or more when the bionic brother shows up to lose my flies.
mikechell 0 Report post Posted June 9, 2020 18 hours ago, James said: ... what fish do you chase after. Fresh water only. Florida has a lot of water, so I don't feel any need to drive to salt. I'm a sunfish/crappie/bass guy. Whatever hits the fly ... that's what I am after.
Mark Knapp 0 Report post Posted June 9, 2020 At least one to two long days of fishing a week plus extended week to two week trips 5 or 6 times a summer.
WJG 0 Report post Posted June 10, 2020 I chase trout and salmon from April to Dec. My local is only 15 min away and I get in 2 or 3 hrs before work, a few times a week. 1 or 2 evenings further afield and all day Sunday. Some weeks I don't see her awake until Saturday. Call her a trout widow.
