MitchellPM 0 Report post Posted June 15, 2020 What’re some general saltwater flies that you use for tarpon and redfish. I’m moving to the Destin Florida area this fall and I’ve never fly fished in that area before.
utyer 0 Report post Posted June 15, 2020 Clouser Minnows, Semper fleyes or similar patterns work on both. A few shrimp patterns for redfish, I use the flies in the second image for almost everything. I fish mostly the east coast.
Permitcapt 0 Report post Posted June 16, 2020 Today, most people will suggest the "Toad" variety of tarpon flies. I still do well with traditionally tyed flies with splayed tails. The addition of maribou helps. Bleached grizzly with tan is always a killer, mimicing crabs. Chartreuse is great. Black and purple for low light conditions. Redfish eat all sorts of flashy flies: spoon fly, heavily-dressed clouser types, crab flies, etc. Start simple, and grow your box from there.
