I have a graphite rod that is broken approximately 3-4 in Che from the tip.  Does anyone know if it can be repaired and if so, who might I contact.  It is a Browning silaflex graphite 5-6 wt.  Was my first graphite rod, broken by my kids sword fighting.  Thanks for any help.

Welcome to the site, Clearfork51.

I've got a couple of rods that I just took the tip off and reset it at the break.  I don't miss the 2 or 3 inches off the end.

We've got a very talented, professional rod builder ... Steeldrifter (http://midwestcustomflyrods.com/) ... who might be able to help.  I'm sure he'll chime in when he gets online.

Not much anyone can do but replace the tip top.  Any splice would destroy the action of the rod as much as just making it shorter and stiffer which is what a tip top on what you have left will do.  The only real repair would require replacing the whole tip section, and with an older rod, that may not be possible.  I no longer do any rod building, but Steeldrifter should be able to offer some advise.

Too bad about your rod, hopefully someone here will have some good repair advice, if not there's always the big auction site, sometimes you can get lucky there.

Steeldrifter is the man! I second the motion! I fixed a similar break this spring. Stiffened the tip area a bit but still the same length. My guess is most people wouldn't know much of a difference. Not difficult with a piece of scrap rod, epoxy, wrapping thread, epoxy for the thread.

Maybe call Bass Pro, I think they bought that company out. Hit and miss, but you never know.

Is it broke in two places, or just the spot down from he tip? If its just the spot from the tip then the best thing to do would be to clean cut the break, put a new larger tube tip top on, and rearrange the next guide a bit further down (maybe even next two guides).
