Double fly rig

Recommended Posts

Found a nice illustration of a double fly rig or "dropper". They are not allowed in all fly fishing waters but are a very popular in some area or so I have heard. Most people use an "attractor pattern" as the top fly followed by some type of imitation pattern. Thought I would share it for anyone interested.

Yep. i use rigs like that all the time. They are very productive. I would suggest trying it at least once, you will be suprised on the action you get.

fish the dropper rig in a small stream were the bass action is sometimes sporadiac. Sometimes a nice smallie will hit the larger fly, and sometimes a nice gill or flier will hit the dropper nymph...makes for an interesting day on a little creek...
