I won't pretend to speak for Scott, I think the flies sometimes are not meant to imitate anything in particular, just something that might be tasty to a fish.

Definitely. Maybe a reaction strike.
Can't say how many times fish have hit my indicator.

Some flies from this week.  First one not as pretty as Kimos. The next two single feather nymphs.  Then nymphs from FTD nymph test dubbing. Last a Guides Choice Hares Ear.

What does that initiate Scott?

Landon,

Just general attractors to get their attention; the trout I fish for tend to be dim bulbs.

Starting to play with deer hair poppers.

This one is tied for big pike, not according to any particular recipe. Just for practice.

On a size 9/0 Owner hook, overall it's 8 inches long.

The barred chickabou feathers on the side are supposed to flutter like legs when stripped, that's the idea anyway.

I think I'd call that a Mardi Gras Mouse, Mark!  Looks killer, and I think you're a natural for deer hair work.
