Oh they also got horribly mad at me when I made a video on a fly they “originated”. Made me actually tell people that they made a video also (which was not as well done) and people should look at their video for the real way to tie it or something like that. It was crazy. They were so rude about it also. I’m just a guy, who ties flies. My subscribers ask me to make videos on how to tie specific patterns. I do my best to make quality videos for them. I explained that to him and he didn’t care. I also explained to him that I’m a custom tier, people ask me to tie specific patterns for them, and they asked for yours. I figured that’s ok, since they are my subscribers, asking for me to tie. Lol! But he didn’t have any of it. I think he was just upset because my video got 6 times more views than his did. Haha!! What ya gonna do right? Either way he has tried to get me banned now from the local fly shops and such. It’s really frustrating. Of course he has some clout also, he is somewhat known. I’m not gonna say names or anything as I’m not that kinda person. But he really is not a good guy. What’s even more, is he ties other people’s patterns all the time. In fact the fly in question is directly a variation of another fly. One that looks almost identical but he changed up one or two materials. (Same as I did). But I didn’t go and name a new pattern and try to get mad at anyone tying “my version” either. Just sick of these types of people. Really annoying. And I get a lot of them since I’ve made 400 tying videos now. Seems like someone always has a problem with how I tied something or who I did or didn’t give credit to. Becomes too much hassle for me to even make them much anymore.

Honestly I never know what I’m allowed to do. The unwritten rules of this industry. I feel like I’ve been blacklisted a few times for not doing things right. So when people that have been in the industry longer than me seem to flip out on me for doing something it makes me worry I’m not doing something right. But usually it’s like a surprise. I’ve got PTSD from making these videos now. Hahahaha! Of course I’m joking. But I do seem to worry or get all jumpy now from expecting someone threatening to sue me or blacklist me from all of the fly shops (happened on a few occasions). I even had a few death threats. Not joking or exaggerating. Just the weirdest thing. Lol!
